Puma Velocity Nitro 3 Review

As a company Puma have an excellent track record when it comes to running shoes and this one is no exception. I have really enjoyed testinmg this shoe over the past few months and I have to aay I am impressed.

In this Puma Velocity Nitro 3 Review I will bve taking you through ther good and the bad of this game changing shoe.

Cushioning

A good level of cushioning is an essential component of a great shoe. A cushioned midsole helps relieve stress from the joints and provides support that makes long distance runs much easier.

Support

Good support is essential for all runners, so it is very important that when buying trainers an individual buys running shoes that have enough support. That may look different for all runners but it is important to consider.

It is important that a supportive running shoe provides a stable platform and reduces the risk of potential injuries.

Durability

I believe that it is important to buy shoes that have been built to last. If you are going to spend your own money on shoes then they should stay in good working condition for many months to come.

Fit

Making sure your shoes fit properly is very important as if a shoe is too big it can cause the shoes to start to rub against you feet causing blisters and other discomforts. By not having a shoe that fits it will also get rid of the possibility of a comfortable run.

Breathability

Breathable materials in the upper part of the shoe helps keep the feet cool and dry during runs. This is because it helps prevent the build up of sweat and moisture in the shoe which reduces discomfort and irritation when running.

A breathable upper shoe enhances comfort and can be a life saver when running in hot days as it helps prevent overheating. This makes shoes with this feature an excellent choice as well as a comfortable fit.

Value

Running shoes can get really expensive and if you are someone that runs a lot you will have to keep coming back to buy more. This can really add up which is why I have added cost to the list of important factor.

Energy Return

There is no better feeling than being propelled by a responsive running shoe. A running shoe should that gives energy back to the runner can make all types of runs feel so much nicer. This category is even more important in race day shoes.

Puma Velocity Nitro 3 First Impressions

After opening the box, I was immediately drawn to the Puma logo overlay on the mesh. It looked like the shoe was meant for speed.

I have used the Nitro 2’s before and was expecting a similar fit and feel when trying the Nitro 3’s, however they felt completely different.

The foam felt soft and plush but when you lace them up you can really that stiff bottom layer of foam.

My first run was a medium paced 10km and I found that this model offered very good speed assistance and comfort. I felt that I could run in these shoes for days because of how soft and comfortable they felt.

I also took them out on the trails to test the rubber outsole and I was very impressed with how much traction and durability they offered.

Why Should You Buy The Shoe

If you are in the market for a versatile running shoe that can handle a variety of different activities then this is an excellent choice for you. If you want a combination of speed and comfort then this is a great choice for you.

Why Should You Not Buy The Shoe

This shoe does run narrow so if you are someone with wider feet then you may want to look elsewhere or go a half size up.

Upper Of The Shoe

If I had one criticism of this shoe it would be that it runs narrow. This was a small problem for me as I have wider feet however I did go a half size up and that did help so it isn’t a complete deal breaker.

The upper is light and is made of an engineered mesh which is breathable and really helps promote airflow. This is perfect for running during the summer heats. The upper also feels soft on your foot and is very comfortable so overall, I have no complaints.

I did also like how they incorporated a PWRTAPE which is a strap like material that is built into the upper. It is a form of hitting mild stability on key points of the foot.

Foam Of The Shoe

This trainer contains Nitro foam which is present in many other Puma trainers as well such as the Deviate Nitro 3. This foam is responsive and energy efficient which I really liked. It also offers an excellent combination of speed assistance and comfort which is rare in a shoe.

Sole Of The Shoe

The outsole of the shoe was one of my favourite features. Especially the Pumagrip. I could talk all day about the specifics behind Pumagrip, however all you need to know is that the rubber outsole material will handle any surface with ease. It offers excellent traction and durability.

A common issue with outsoles with lots of rubber is that they can feel clunky however Puma have done an excellent job of avoiding this problem.

Conclusion To This Puma Velocity Nitro 3 Review

Overall, I would highly recommend this shoe to any runner out there as this shoe can do it all. This is one of my favourite shoes for long distances and daily training but it can be used for anything. The only downside is that the shoe design is narrow, however this problem can be easily solved by going a half size up.
