New Balance Fuelcell Rebel V4 Review

Black and grey new balance running shoe on white background

I really like the daily trainers that can double up as a tempo shoe and actually do it well. This is that exact shoe and I have really enjoyed testing it over the past few months. I have been really impressed with this shoe over the past few months and I am excited to share my thoughts.

In this New Balance rebel v4 review I will be taking you through every detail of one of the most versatile shoes around.

A good level of cushioning is an essential component of a great shoe. A cushioned midsole helps relieve stress from the joints and provides support that makes long distance runs much easier.

Good support is essential for all runners, so it is very important that when buying trainers an individual buys running shoes that have enough support. That may look different for all runners but it is important to consider.

It is important that a supportive running shoe provides a stable platform and reduces the risk of potential injuries.

I believe that it is important to buy shoes that have been built to last. If you are going to spend your own money on shoes then they should stay in good working condition for many months to come.

Making sure your shoes fit properly is very important as if a shoe is too big it can cause the shoes to start to rub against you feet causing blisters and other discomforts. By not having a shoe that fits it will also get rid of the possibility of a comfortable run.

Breathable materials in the upper part of the shoe helps keep the feet cool and dry during runs. This is because it helps prevent the build up of sweat and moisture in the shoe which reduces discomfort and irritation when running.

A breathable upper shoe enhances comfort and can be a life saver when running in hot days as it helps prevent overheating. This makes shoes with this feature an excellent choice as well as a comfortable fit.

Running shoes can get really expensive and if you are someone that runs a lot you will have to keep coming back to buy more. This can really add up which is why I have added cost to the list of important factor.

Energy Return

There is no better feeling than being propelled by a responsive running shoe. A running shoe should that gives energy back to the runner can make all types of runs feel so much nicer. This category is even more important in race day shoes.

My First Impressions of the shoe

When I First put these shoes on I was really impressed with how light weight they felt. However unlike other light weight trainers I have used I actually felt like I was getting a nice bit of cushion and support. Moving on from the cushion I noticed the stiff nature of the upper.

For my first run my hunch about the upper had been corect. It was very stiff which allowed it to support my foot very nicely. This was especially handy when I used these shoes for a track workout which by the way was made all the more enjoyed due to the amazing energy return from the foam.

Why you should buy the shoe

If you want a good quality daily trainer that you can then use for your spadework as well then there is no better option than the new balance fuelcell rebel v4. Never in my time testing shoes for this site have I used a shoe that has been able to master this combination in this way.

Why you should not buy the shoe

If you are used to using carbon plated running shoes for your track workouts then you might be disappointed with the energy return you get from this shoe. I think that when a shoe is doing two different things at once somethings got to give.

Upper of the shoe

As I have briefly mentioned before the upper on this shoe was very supportive. It also had a nice bit of breathability, and from an upper there isn’t really much more that I would want. No complaints in this area!

Foam of the shoe

The foam on this shoe was light weight and gave some unriveled energy return. This great combination of bounce and weight made the ride on this shoe feel light, fast and remarkably comfortable. Again I have no complaints here.

Sole of the shoe

The sole of this shoe provided traction that was good but in today’s world that is nothing special. Where this sole stood out was the durability of the sole. As with all shoes I review on this site I log over 100km in each of these shoes and even after that there was little to no wear.

Conclusions to this new balance fuelcell rebel v4 review

To conclude I think that this is a great and very versatile shoe that I have really enjoyed using. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a good daily trainer that can double up as a tempo shoe.
