New Balance Fuelcell Propel v5 Review

Pink, blue and white new balance running shoe on white backround

The New balance Fuel cell Propel v5 is quite a mouthful to say but when you get past the overly long name this shoe is actually very pleasant. It is comfortable, supportive and even very versatile. I have really enjoyed testing this amazing running shoe and I have to say that the improvements from the previous version have been quite drastic.

In this New Balance Fuelcell Propel v5 Review I will be taking you through almost every detail of this amazing shoe.

A good level of cushioning is an essential component of a great shoe. A cushioned midsole helps relieve stress from the joints and provides support that makes long distance runs much easier.

Good support is essential for all runners, so it is very important that when buying trainers an individual buys running shoes that have enough support. That may look different for all runners but it is important to consider.

It is important that a supportive running shoe provides a stable platform and reduces the risk of potential injuries.

I believe that it is important to buy shoes that have been built to last. If you are going to spend your own money on shoes then they should stay in good working condition for many months to come.

Making sure your shoes fit properly is very important as if a shoe is too big it can cause the shoes to start to rub against you feet causing blisters and other discomforts. By not having a shoe that fits it will also get rid of the possibility of a comfortable run.

Breathable materials in the upper part of the shoe helps keep the feet cool and dry during runs. This is because it helps prevent the build up of sweat and moisture in the shoe which reduces discomfort and irritation when running.

A breathable upper shoe enhances comfort and can be a life saver when running in hot days as it helps prevent overheating. This makes shoes with this feature an excellent choice as well as a comfortable fit.

Running shoes can get really expensive and if you are someone that runs a lot you will have to keep coming back to buy more. This can really add up which is why I have added cost to the list of important factor.

Energy Return

There is no better feeling than being propelled by a responsive running shoe. A running shoe should that gives energy back to the runner can make all types of runs feel so much nicer. This category is even more important in race day shoes.

My First impressions of the shoe

On first impressions I was blown away by how comfortable these shoes were. I put them on and I could feel the fuelcell foam compressing and as a shoe fan there is just no better feeling. I know this is a very bold statement but these have got to be the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. I think the fact that you can order a wider version just adds to the comfort.

For a first run I decided to take these on a 8km easy jog on my usual route and as I might have already mentioned the comfort was off the scale.

Why you should buy the shoe

This is an amazing shoe that has more to offer than just insane comfort. The shoe has an upper that is both breathable and very supportive and it has the ability to be used as a walk about day to day shoe which is always handy and it is great value for money.

Why you should not buy the shoe

This is going to be a tough section to write because there are so few reason to not buy this shoe. It is great value and it is well made. One criticism I do have of this shoe is it’s in ability to perform at speed. It just means that if you are planning on using your daily trainer for speed work then you might want to consider a more versatile option.

Upper of the shoe

The upper on this shoe has a good level of breathability and it is very supportive, which I think is needed cause the foam is not as stable as some other shoes that I have tested recently.

Foam of the shoe

The foam on this shoe is so unbelievably comfortable and the energy return is also quite good. There is however one small issue with the stability of the foam. When I took tight corners in this shoe the stability just wasn’t there which was not ideal.

Sole of the shoe

The sole of the shoe has some great traction and to top that off it is very durable. The sole of this is not that thick either which helps keep the shoe quite light.

Conclusions to this New Balance Fuelcell Propel v5 Review

To conclude I just want to say what an amazing shoe this is. The value for money on this shoe is out of this world and I am yet to find a shoe that is just as comfortable. I would definitely recommend this to almost any runner.
