Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro 2 Review

White and grey Mizuno running shoes on white background

There are a few shoes that I look at and think wow. The Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro 2 is one of those shoes and after testing this shoe for the past two moths I can say with confidence that this shoe feels just as unique as it looks. I have really enjoyed testing this shoe and I am looking forward to sharing my thoughts.

In this Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro 2 Review I will be taking you through every detail of the most unique shoe on the market.

Cushioning

A good level of cushioning is an essential component of a great shoe. A cushioned midsole helps relieve stress from the joints and provides support that makes long distance runs much easier.

Support

Good support is essential for all runners, so it is very important that when buying trainers an individual buys running shoes that have enough support. That may look different for all runners but it is important to consider.

It is important that a supportive running shoe provides a stable platform and reduces the risk of potential injuries.

Durability

I believe that it is important to buy shoes that have been built to last. If you are going to spend your own money on shoes then they should stay in good working condition for many months to come.

Fit

Making sure your shoes fit properly is very important as if a shoe is too big it can cause the shoes to start to rub against you feet causing blisters and other discomforts. By not having a shoe that fits it will also get rid of the possibility of a comfortable run.

Breathability

Breathable materials in the upper part of the shoe helps keep the feet cool and dry during runs. This is because it helps prevent the build up of sweat and moisture in the shoe which reduces discomfort and irritation when running.

A breathable upper shoe enhances comfort and can be a life saver when running in hot days as it helps prevent overheating. This makes shoes with this feature an excellent choice as well as a comfortable fit.

Value

Running shoes can get really expensive and if you are someone that runs a lot you will have to keep coming back to buy more. This can really add up which is why I have added cost to the list of important factor.

Energy Return

There is no better feeling than being propelled by a responsive running shoe. A running shoe should that gives energy back to the runner can make all types of runs feel so much nicer. This category is even more important in race day shoes.

My first impressions of the shoe

As soon as I took this shoe out of the box I was really excited. It was like being given a new toy as a kid, it was something very new and it was fun. I initially thought that the shoe was going to be massively unstable and the forward population was going to be crazy.

For my first run I took these down to my local park run and I got some funny looks to say the least, they were all in good spirit though. When I started running my initial predications were mostly correct. The forward propulsion was crazy but I was only half correct on the stability. It was slightly unstable but then again most super shoes are.

Why you should not buy the shoe

If you are someone that wants a more stability and energy return in their shoe then this might not be the best one for you. Shoes like the Nike Alphafly and the Nike Vapourlfy have been verified with multiple world records and fast times which might count for something when you are making you choice.

Why you should by the shoe

If you are forefoot striker then this shoe is very well suited to you as it has cut the back of the shoe out to save weight. It also has some of the best forward propulsion around. I know I mentioned nikes shoes having better energy return and they do but this one sends you forward in a more propulsive way.

Upper of the shoe

The Upper of this shoe had some of the best breathability on any shoe I have ever tested. I know that is a bold statement but my god I could even see through the upper. To add to this breathability it kept my foot feeling nicely supported throughout all of my runs.

Foam of the shoe

The foam on this shoe as I have mentioned was stacked high and it was very bouncy. It was made all the better by the full length carbon plate that ran through all of the foam. It was slightly unstable which might be a problem for some but I didn’t really mind.

Sole of the shoe

A lot of super shoes these days like to skimp out on grip in favour of weight savings but I am pleased to report that this is not the case with the Mizuno wave rebellion pro 2. The traction on this shoe was amazing and it didn’t add too much extra weight at the same time.

Conclusion to this Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro 2 Review

To conclude I just want to say what a big fan of this shoe I am and I look forward to using this shoe again for races and maybe even testing out future versions. I am always a big fan of unique shoes like this which don’t come along very often.
