Asics Noosa Tri 16 Review

Blue and red Asics running shoe on white background

In an era of carbon-plated super foam trainers and racers sometimes it is good to go back to those simple construction trainers that can really do it all. In this Asics Noosa Tri 16 review I will go over my experience and thoughts of this trainer and we will find out whether or not this shoe is worth the hype.

A good level of cushioning is an essential component of a great shoe. A cushioned midsole helps relieve stress from the joints and provides support that makes long distance runs much easier.

Good support is essential for all runners, so it is very important that when buying trainers an individual buys running shoes that have enough support. That may look different for all runners but it is important to consider.

It is important that a supportive running shoe provides a stable platform and reduces the risk of potential injuries.

I believe that it is important to buy shoes that have been built to last. If you are going to spend your own money on shoes then they should stay in good working condition for many months to come.

Making sure your shoes fit properly is very important as if a shoe is too big it can cause the shoes to start to rub against you feet causing blisters and other discomforts. By not having a shoe that fits it will also get rid of the possibility of a comfortable run.

Breathable materials in the upper part of the shoe helps keep the feet cool and dry during runs. This is because it helps prevent the build up of sweat and moisture in the shoe which reduces discomfort and irritation when running.

A breathable upper shoe enhances comfort and can be a life saver when running in hot days as it helps prevent overheating. This makes shoes with this feature an excellent choice as well as a comfortable fit.

Running shoes can get really expensive and if you are someone that runs a lot you will have to keep coming back to buy more. This can really add up which is why I have added cost to the list of important factor.

Energy Return

There is no better feeling than being propelled by a responsive running shoe. A running shoe should that gives energy back to the runner can make all types of runs feel so much nicer. This category is even more important in race day shoes.

Asics Noosa Tri 16 Review First Impressions

When I opened the box I was very happy with how colourful and aesthetically pleasing these shoes are. You can buy them in so many differrent colours so you can make them as colourful as you want! Anyway enough about how they look lets get onto how they performed.

The first time I put these shoes on I was very happy with how the upper material felt and the shoe fit very well. This model fits true to size so there is no need to go a half size up.

The toe box is fairly broad and has plently of toe room as well as having a firmer part of the toe bumper at the very front. This shoe was also extremely comfortable and I felt as if I could wear these shoes all day and still feel fresh. You can’t help but smile when you open the box and see a less than serious shoe. They look great and feel great. The tongue sits perfectly and doesn’t get in the way which was a very nice change from other brands.

My first run in these shoes was a mid tempo 10km run and they performed very well. I could feel the snappy forefoot which allowed for fast transitions and helped me pick up the pace. I was also impressed with comfortable the shoe felt although the midsole was firm the upper was soft which created the perfect combination between speed assistance and comfort.

Why Should You Buy These Shoes?

If you are in the market for a top of the range daily trainer that offers a perfect combination of comfort and speed then this is a great choice for you. This shoe is not only aesthetically attractive it also offers excellent heel lockdown, energy return and snappy transitions. They are perfect for long distances due to the cushioning and comfort.

Why Should You Not Buy These Shoes?

If you are not a fan of colourful shoes and like to have subtle shoes that do not stand out then this shoe is definetly not for you. If you are also looking for a lightweight racing shoe then this shoe although light and fast will not be able to compete with a Vaporfly 3 or an AlphaFly 3

Upper of the shoe

This shoe has a soft mesh upper that helps offer a high level of breathability. The soft upper also added another layer of comfort to the shoe. One thing that really impressed me was good the heel lockdown was in this version. I never felt my foot slipping out once and there was a never a need to even use a runners knot.

The collar was padded and extends down to the rigid heel counter which are the features that offer this excellent lockdown.

Foam of the shoe

The midsole of this shoe contains Asics FF Blast Plus which is one of the main upgrades from the previous model. This Blast plus is slightly softer and offers an extra level of comfort that was missing from the previous shoes in the series. This is a non supercritical foam and is found in my Asics road and trail shoes such as Nimbus Or Kayano. It is a light and responsive foam which is one of the reasons the shoe is able to remain so light.

Sole of the shoe

The Geometry includes Asics guide sole technology which adds a simialar effect as a rocker plate without actually having one. This feature allows you to pick up the pace and have fast transitions. The lack of a carbon plate does reduce its speed assistance however it also allows for the weight to be reduced and helps with the comfort of the shoe. Which I think is good as for a daily trainer, comfort should be the top priority.

Conclusions to the Asics Noosa Tri 16 Review

Overall, I would highly recommend this trainer for anyone looking for a fast paced, comfortable and colourful daily trainer. This is a personal favourite and I use it myself almost daily since it came out so I honestly cannot recommend this model enough!
